  1. Man is a unique creation of God, set apart from the rest of His creation. Man alone has been given a “spirit”, through which he can know God.

Then the Lord God formed the man out of the dust from the ground and breathed the breath of life into his nostrils, and the man became a living being.

    Genesis 2:7
    Figure 1

1 Thess. 5:23 Now may the God of peace Himself sanctify you completely. And may your spirit, soul, and body be kept sound and blameless for the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Rom. 8:16 The Spirit Himself testifies together with our spirit that we are God’s children.

1 Cor. 14:15 (Paul wrote) … I will pray with the spirit, and I will also pray with my understanding. I will sing with the spirit, and I will also sing with my understanding.

NOTE FOR THE DISCIPLER: The above diagram is a simple transitional tool to be used until the more complex biblical model of the temple is presented in Lesson 3-12.

  2. The entire animal kingdom is limited in scope, without a “spirit”, and thus without an awareness of God. (Gen. 2:7 refers to man alone)
